Considered Acquisitions

Every piece in the LEGACY vault is one of a kind — a natural diamond or gemstone, selected, independently certified and documented individually. No two are alike, and none is replaced once it leaves the vault. Acquisitions from the House are therefore considered purchases, and all sales are final, subject only to the window and the protections set out below.

The thirty-day window

A client may raise a claim under this policy by written notice to their advisor within thirty (30) days of delivery. Where no claim is raised within that period, the acquisition is final in all respects and no credit, exchange or refund will be issued.

House Credit — the sole remedy

Where a claim is accepted following inspection, the House issues House Credit only. The House does not issue cash refunds, and does not reverse card, wire or other settlement.

  • House Credit is issued in the amount of the purchase price of the piece only.
  • It is valid for twenty-four (24) months from issue, redeemable against any piece in the vault.
  • It is non-transferable, may not be assigned, and may not be exchanged for cash in whole or in part.
  • Delivery, insurance, duties and taxes already paid are not credited.
  • Where delivery and transit insurance were provided complimentary at despatch, that accommodation is conditional on the acquisition being kept. On a return, it is withdrawn and the House’s actual cost of the outbound carriage and insurance is deducted from the House Credit issued.

Costs borne by the client

Where a piece is returned to the House under this policy, the client bears in full:

  • Return carriage and insurance — returns travel by Brink’s Global Services or a carrier nominated by the House, fully insured, at the client’s cost.
  • All export and import duties, tariffs, customs charges and taxes arising on the original delivery and on the return, in both the origin and destination territories.
  • The original delivery and transit-insurance charge — non-refundable where paid, and, where it was extended complimentary, deducted from the credit at the House’s actual cost.
  • Any bank, remittance or currency-conversion charges.

Pieces returned without prior written authorisation from the House, or returned by any carrier other than the one nominated, are returned to the client at the client’s cost and no credit is issued.

Condition — assessed on inspection

Credit is issued only after the piece has been received and inspected by the House, and only where the inspection confirms the piece is in the condition in which it left the vault. The House’s inspection determination is final. A piece must be returned:

  • Unworn and unused, showing no signs of wear, contact or handling;
  • With all seals and tags intact and attached;
  • In its complete original packaging, including the presentation case and outer carton;
  • With the original certification, appraisal and all accompanying documentation.

Where a piece is received worn, altered, damaged, incomplete, or without its certification or original packaging, no credit is issued and the piece is returned to the client at the client’s cost.

Never eligible

The following are final on delivery and are not eligible for credit, exchange or return under any circumstance:

  • Bespoke and commissioned pieces, and any piece made or sourced to a client’s specification;
  • Any piece engraved, resized, reset, altered or personalised at the client’s request;
  • Any piece that has been worn;
  • Pieces acquired through a private viewing, invitation-only release or negotiated private offer;
  • Loose stones released to the client’s own setter or third party.

Where the House is at fault

The above does not limit the House where the House is at fault. If a piece is confirmed on inspection to be materially not as described, or is damaged in carriage, the House arranges insured collection at no cost to the client, bears the duties and carriage on that collection, and makes the matter right — by replacement where an equivalent piece exists, or by House Credit including all costs the client has paid. Every shipment travels fully insured under Brink’s Global Services and the House manages any carrier claim in full. Nothing in this policy affects rights a client has under mandatory law.

Examine everything first

The House’s model is deliberate: private consultation, independent certification on request, full documentation and one transparent price — so the decision a client makes is one they keep. Certification is available before you commit, on every stone. Book a private consultation or open a private enquiry and examine everything first.
