How to Measure
Three Methods
Choose the method that suits you best. For a truly precise fit — particularly for wide band rings or high-carat stones — we always recommend a professional sizing.
01
The String Method
Cut a thin strip of string or thread approximately 15 cm long.
Wrap it snugly (not tightly) around the base of your finger.
Mark where the string overlaps with a pen.
Lay the string flat and measure the length in millimetres — this is your circumference.
Match the circumference to the conversion table above.
02
The Paper Strip Method
Cut a narrow strip of paper about 1 cm wide and 15 cm long.
Wrap it around the base of your finger, ensuring it slides comfortably over the knuckle.
Mark the overlap point clearly.
Measure the length from the end to the mark in millimetres.
Use the chart to identify your ring size.
03
Using an Existing Ring
Select a ring that fits the intended finger well.
Place the ring flat on a ruler and measure the internal diameter in millimetres.
Match the diameter measurement to the chart above.
Ensure the ring you measure fits the correct finger — ring sizes vary between fingers.
If between two sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.
Professional Sizing Tips from Our Advisors
Measure your finger at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest. Fingers can vary by up to half a size from morning to evening.
Avoid measuring when your hands are cold — fingers are measurably smaller in cool temperatures.
For wide bands (over 6mm), consider sizing up by half a size for comfortable wear.
If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, size to your knuckle and have the shank adjusted.
Measure at least three times and take the average for the most reliable result.
Legacy recommends visiting our atelier for a complimentary professional sizing prior to any commission or significant purchase.
Resizing Service: Legacy Diamonds & Gemstones offers a professional ring resizing service for all pieces acquired through us. Most rings can be resized one to two sizes up or down without compromising the structural integrity of the setting. Complex designs — including pavé, eternity bands, and certain fancy shapes — may have resizing limitations. Please contact your advisor for specific guidance.
Not Sure of Your Size?
Our advisors provide complimentary professional sizing at both our Mumbai and New York offices. International clients may request a sizing kit by post.
Bracelet sizing is determined by your wrist circumference plus an ease allowance. The correct fit allows comfortable movement without slipping off.

01
Tape Measure Method
Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around your wrist, just above the wrist bone.
Note the measurement in millimetres — this is your wrist circumference.
Add 15–20 mm for a comfortable bracelet fit.
02
String Method
Wrap a string around your wrist at your preferred bracelet position.
Mark where the string meets itself, lay flat, and measure in millimetres.
Refer to the chart above to find your bracelet size.
03
Tennis Bracelet Fit
Tennis bracelets wear best with a comfortable, slightly loose fit.
You should be able to slide one finger between the bracelet and your wrist.
For Legacy tennis bracelets, we recommend adding 20–25 mm to your wrist circumference.
Professional Sizing Tips from Our Advisors
Measure your wrist at the end of the day when it is at its largest.
For rigid cuff bracelets, measure across the widest part of your knuckles with your hand flat — this is the minimum opening the cuff must have to pass over your hand.
Chain bracelets with extension clasps offer flexibility — ideal if you are between sizes.
For charm bracelets, size up by one size to allow room for charms to lay flat and move freely.
