What does a sapphire and diamond necklace cost?

From wearable pendants to important suites priced in the hundreds of thousands — the range is wide because sapphires are judged differently from diamonds. Colour is sovereign: saturation and evenness of blue move the price more than carat weight, and an untreated stone of fine colour commands a premium over a larger, paler one. Each listing carries the single, honest price, and an advisor will explain exactly what the colour, origin and treatment status of any stone mean for its figure.

How should a sapphire be judged?

Not by the diamond's four Cs. Look first at colour — a velvety, evenly distributed blue, neither inky in low light nor washed at noon. Then treatment: heating is traditional and accepted, but an unheated stone of comparable colour is significantly rarer, and the certificate will say so plainly. Then origin, which the laboratory can generally determine. The diamonds around the sapphire are graded exactly as our white stones are — and their certificates are shown with the same candour.
