Four carats, cushion cut — rounded corners and a deep, lantern-like return of light. Certified, hand-selected.

Four carats gives the cushion room to do what it does best. The soft corners keep the stone comfortable on the hand while the depth returns light in broad, unhurried flashes — a warmer effect than the sharp scintillation of a modern brilliant, and the reason the cut has never really left fashion since the nineteenth century.
It faces up slightly smaller than a round of the same weight, because the cushion holds more of its carat below the girdle. What you buy with that depth is the character of the light return, which is precisely the point.
Cushions carry warmth gracefully. A grade that would read faintly tinted in an emerald cut often looks simply rich in a cushion, which can put a larger or cleaner stone within the same figure.
